Meditation and
Mindfulness Practice Classes
Most people begin Meditation or Mindfulness
Practice for stress reduction. So, you have heard of it as
Mindfulness-Based-Stress-Reduction. Most of the traditional
approaches to stress
reduction speak to prevention of stress. But what if you
can’t prevent the stress? What if the job, or life situation
is, by its very nature, stressful? Mindfulness Practice and
Meditation teaches you to change the way you react to stress,
allowing you to be relaxed and happy in difficult situations.
When you feel you are done for now with your meditation become
aware of the room, open your eyes and write down any
experiences or perceptions you may have had in your session.
With the intent that you are now done your session, stretch,
breathe deeply, pick up your glass and walk away from yourmeditation space. This
enables you to handle stress and boredom and to choose, if you
want, to remain with a stressful job or life situation.
Mindfulness Practice comes from ancient roots. It is the
universal concept of living in the present moment. This means
letting go of the “monkey Mind”. The Monkey Mind is the mind
that is constantly on the go – thoughts jumping from one thing
to another. This is not your natural state. Our natural state is
relaxaed. So, practice by making time for your meditations as
often as you require. I suggest for people to try to have one
session of good quality a week. Slowly increase the length of
time you meditate to whatever is comfortable for the lifestyle
you choose to express. Start out by sitting for 10 minutes, and
then increase the time. Some people like to meditate for one
hour every day.
Mindfulness Practice makes you learn to let go of thoughts
of the past and future, of worry and agitation, and rest in
awareness of what is actually happening now. It is the art of
conscious living, of self-inquiry, and is for anyone who wants
to reduce stress and boredom, solve life’s problems and live
life more fully.
